11th Battalion, Lancashire Fusiliers.
Awarded the Military Medal in the Supplement to the London Gazette of 28 June 1945 (for ITALY).
The official recommendation reads: - "During the period 1 September 1944 to 31 December 1944, Colour Sergeant Lord rendered outstanding service to his Company. Despite great difficulties in bad weather and mountainous country and the added danger of enemy shelling on known supply routes, he has always completed his tasks successfully. On one occasion when his mule train was shelled, he risked his life in trying to extricate a Fusilier who was trapped by falling masonry. He has frequently spent whole nights in areas being shelled by the enemy searching the mountainside for scattered mules and stores. His tireless energy and devotion to duty throughout the period have been an example to the entire Company".
