He was the son of William Barnard, enlisted at Burnley and was born in
Gloucester. Lived in Burnley for the past eleven years at 8 Duckett St.
He was employed as a weaver for Messrs Sutcliffe and Clarkson when he
enlisted. He was highly popular at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church where
he was school organist and a member of the choir. The Burnley News of
Saturday September 16th 1915 has a photograph of him shaking hands with
Bugler R.Hartley a member of the 2nd/2nd E.L.F.A. who remained in England.
