DIED OF DISEASE
INTIMATION OF LANCE CORPORAL’S DEATH. (Burnley Express 30/06/15)

Formerly a sergeant in the Volunteers, in which he served seven years, Mr C. Burrell, of 4, Grosvenor Street, Burnley, joined the 5th East Lancashire Territorial’s when war broke out. Almost immediately he received the rank of Lance Corporal, and as such he accompanied the regiment to Egypt. His wife has now received official intimation that he has died from a disease not stated, the date of death being June 18th. Lance Corporal Burrell was only 32 years of age, and leaves a wife and two little children. He worked at Stansfield’s Mill.
