Private James Hargreaves WORST FEARS REALISED. ( Burnley Express 14th September 1918) On June 22nd last we published particulars of Private Jas Hargreaves,
formerly of 60 Nairne Street, and whose wife now lives at 51 Westmoreland
Street, Burnley. He was then reported missing since March 21st. Official
news has now been received by his wife that he was killed in action on
April 2nd. He belonged to the East Lancashire and was 28 years of age.
He enlisted in October, 1914, and went out in March 1917. He was formerly
employed as a twister at Ingham’s Mill, Padiham. There are two brothers
and two brothers-in-law serving, and a brother-in-law wounded. He leaves
a widow and two children.
