Private William Langtree (enlisted in the name of Hargreaves) 7164, 1st Battalion East Lancashire Regiment. Died of Wounds 25th January 1915. He was married with two children and lived at 10 Susan Street, Burnley. He was a reservist, having been a regular soldier who joined just after the Boer War, and had recently been employed as a goods checker at Bank Top Station. After being in the battles of the Aisne and Armentieres he was hit in the head by a sniper whilst trench digging on December 8th 1914. After treatment at a Field Ambulance he was transferred to a general hospital in Boulogne on 19th December before being sent to Netley Hospital on15th January. He is buried in Netley Miltary Cemetery.
