As stated in our Wednesday’s issue, Mr. and Mrs. Nightingale, of
35 James-street, Padiham, received word on Tuesday morning from the record
office that their son, Pte. Moses Nightingale, of the 1/5th East Lancashires,
was killed in action in France on November 6th. Deceased who was 21 years
of age, enlisted when he was 18. He served in Egypt eleven months and
has been in France over eighteen months. He was formerly employed in the
warehouse at Orchard Mill. Two of his brothers Herbert and William –
are serving in the Army.
