My
mother in law spoke very little of her father as she was only 18 months
old when he was killed and her mother was very bitter about the fact that
he had gone in the first place, she was left a widow with 3 small children
(all now deceased).
In September our first grandson was born and his middle name is Purcell
after G Grandad Purcell (it is also the middle name of my husband)
One thing I must point out is that G. Grandad Purcell was born in Shrewsbury
(now an antique shop) and then lived in Bacup (from where he went to war
and subsequently killed at Hill 60 battle)
Barbara Starkey
(my mother in law was Eleanor Purcell, married Norman Starkey and I am
married to their youngest son Graham Purcell)
