Private Charles Rawlinson
"This
is my grandfather who I have just discovered on the Burnley Great War
website. I think his parents were born in Burnley but he was born in Nelson
and enlisted there. He joined the East Lancs but was transferred at some
date to the Leicesters. A visit to East Lancs museum couldn't identify
when. He worked at the Cotton Exchange in Manchester but sadly have little
other information about him apart from a few family memories. Even a paid
researcher could only give me the movements of the Leicesters on the days
around his death. My grandmother wouldn't speak of him and regretfully
I wasn't interested then."
