Rifleman Wilfred Walker of the Kings Royal Rifle Corps was my uncle, my mother’s older brother. He was killed in action on the 9th August 1918, at Ypres.

Wilfred is the one in the centre of the photograph sat on the chair. On the right hand side of the picture, in uniform, is my grandfather, Robert Walker. On Wilfred’s right, stood up, is my mother’s oldest brother, Robin Walker. Robert Walker and Robin Walker both are listed on your website as having served in the Great War and survived. The family lived in Ebor Street in Burnley at the time. Curiously, Robin appears on the list as two separate entries. I don’t know why this is. Incidentally, my mother is the little girl sat between my grandfather’s knees. (Courtesy of Ann Abbott)
