Lieut Speak wrote that Arthur and several other soldiers were killed when
going into the trenches, 2 German shells landed amongst them,killing 22
including 5 Burnley men,1 Officer and 1 Military medalist.
Attended Ebenezer Church and School and was a teacher and organist and
well known entertainer.
