"It
had only been ten weeks since he had been wounded in his back and legs,
getting out of a trench under shell and machine gun fire, to bring in
the wounded from no mans land. He returned to the trenches at Butte de
Warlencourt, where he lost his life. Alfred also attended St Leonard’s
school where he is also remembered on the memorial park
cenotaph"
