"Fred Lomax was my grandfather (my mother's father). I did not know him as he died in 1933, well before I was born. As you can see, he has signed the photo at the bottom. Fred was born in 1882 and was the oldest of the 10 Lomaxes. His two younger brothers, Herbert and Horace, both served and survived, as did Howarth Blakey and Ernest Riley, who later married, respectively, his sisters Elsie and May."
