William was shot in the head by a Turkish sniper whilst carrying a wounded man.
He was the son of Robert and Grace Arnold and had two brothers Sapper Fred Arnold 62822 R.E. and James Anthony 361853 800 Labour Corps

Willie and Maria Veevers on their engagement day (she had strong red hair) she was the youngest of 5 sisters the others being

Edith, who's husband Sam Roper was accidentally killed in France in 1918
Lucy whose husband Harold Roberts was killed in action
Nova whose husband Willie served as a Sgt in the Royal Engineers (No. 278051)
Sarah whose husband Frank didn't serve (through deafness)but he lost two brothers (Cog Lane)Theis daughter Edith lost her husband Harry Swaine who was kileed in the 2nd World War whilst serving with the Cameronians

The sisters also had a brother Harry Veevers who was the youngest child, he served as a Q.M.S. in the Great War
