Greenwood, who served in 1st WW as a Sgt, in the R E s
You have him as a Sapper, no 278051 they resided at 43 Westmorland ST
Burnley for many years,along with their family, Fred,Annie,Harry &
Mabel,,,,of which Fred died many years ago, Annie was a Salvation Army
Officer, & served in 2nd WW, in several areas,inc, Benghazi, where
she was wounded,& in Acklington, Durham, by gun fire from a Nazi air-plane,
which had straiffed one of the airfields, Both William & Nora died
whilst residing in 43 Westmorland St, Nora died in Nov 1950, Brenda &
I were married on 18th November 1950, & our wedding flower arrangements
were placed on Nora's grave,
William died about 2 years later,
Nora was one of the younger sisters to my Grandma Roper, She was one of
the 5 Veevers girls, 3 of whom lost their husbands or betrothed in the
1st WW ie Edith Roper, Samuel,----
Lucy Roberts, Harold
,& Maria,'s boyfriend Willie
Arnold, Sara Catlow 's husband Frank, was deaf & therefore unable
to serve, lost 2 of his brothers in the conflict, The youngest sibling,
Harry Veevers, also served, so the Veevers family unit served their country
well"
